1. Education is to prepare students for employment
1.1. How can the teachings of special skills for careers be effective in society?
1.1.1. “growing U.S. income inequality: political forces shape distributive outcomes, and there are limits to how much the advantages of education can be moderated through the dissemination of technological skills”(Allen 3).
1.1.1.1. Displays evidence regarding the demand for workers skilled in technology. Leads to the need for students to learn special skills in employment.
1.1.1.1.1. In personal experiences I believe that the classes provided by my school attempted to encourage an interest of a specific career.
1.1.1.1.2. We were able to take electives we found interesting and it prepared us for the future, as in later on we might find interest in the specific career and pursue it + having a head start in the specified classes.
1.1.2. The response was the National Defense Education Act, signed into law in 1958, which increased funding for science and math education, as well as vocational training.

2.3. What are some examples of civic education and how can they be effective in society?
2.3.1. "Humanities, social studies, arts, and extracurricular activities such as debate and model UN—deserve rights-based legal protection. What is more, defending the right to civic education, and the kind of curriculum that delivers it, would benefit not only individual students but also society as a whole, advancing both political equality and distributive justice”(Allen 6).
2.3.1.1. Gives reasons as to where knowledge of history where education is important in various movements --> educated people are do social changes and fight for justice with said knowledge.
