2. Plant Life Cycle

2.1. 1 - seed

2.1.1. has all the parts to make a plant inside of it

2.1.2. needs water, sunlight, air (carbon dioxide OR oxygen), and soil/place to grow -- these allow the plant nutrients so it can grow and survive

2.2. 2 - sprout

2.2.1. it has roots

2.2.2. it has a couple leaves

2.3. 3 - seedling

2.3.1. it has a stem coming out of the ground

2.3.2. it has MANY leaves!

2.4. 4 - adult plant with fruit

3. Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle

3.1. 1 - egg

3.1.1. the mother butterfly will leave the egg on leaves to keep it safe

3.2. 2 - caterpillar

3.2.1. eats a lot of leaves and other food so that it has a lot of nutrients while it is in the chrysalis

3.3. 3 - chrysalis

3.3.1. a type of cocoon

3.3.2. the insect enters as a caterpillar and emerges as a butterfly

3.3.3. scientists have learned that the caterpillar becomes a liquid/goo and then will become a solid butterfly when the process is over

3.3.3.1. the chryslias keeps all the liquid goo in one place

3.4. 4 - adult butterfly

3.4.1. lays the new eggs to keep the life cycle repeating
