1.1. Is any tangible product that has both postively and negativly impacted our society
1.1.1. Pacemaker
1.1.2. Glasses
1.1.3. Computers
1.1.4. Global Positioning Systemn
2. What I think technology is now
2.1. Can be any physical tool or piece of knowledge that has allowed us to acomplish a specific task which would otherwise limit our own capabilities
2.1.1. I never took time to think deeply about what technology really is even though I use it everyday
2.1.1.1. "has a more general meaning which includes any “practical application of knowledge” or “manner of accomplishing a task” (Isman, 2012)
2.1.1.2. 'Technology represents the combination of human understanding of natural laws and phenomena accumulated since ancient times to make things that fulfil our needs and desires or that perform certain functions" (Karatsu, 1990, as cited in Li-Hua, 2007)
2.1.1.3. "Technology is usually comprehended in terms of hardware and the end experiences it produces (good or bad) or its material benefits (profitable or unprofitable), rather than understanding deeper relationships between technology, human, nature, and culture" (İŞMAN, 2012)
2.1.2. Interpretation of what technology is depends on the envrironment and context it is being used in
2.1.2.1. "As a piece of hardware (or an “artifact” for the anthropologist or “cultural good” for the sociologist), “technology” could be a clock, a shovel, a laptop, a belt" (Dyer, 2009)
2.1.2.2. "The simultaneous actions of 45 people forming an orchestra are also a kind of technology that binds together instruments, people, and music" (Dyer, 2009)
2.1.3. Technology can be both physical and non-physical
2.1.3.1. "a physical component which comprises of items such as products, tooling, equipments, blueprints, techniques, and processes...the informational component which consists of know-how in management, marketing, production, quality control, reliability, skilled labor and functional areas" (Kumar et al., 1999)
3. Why do we need new technology?
3.1. With a growing society, people are always going to have new problems that need solving which could mean that the current technology we have may not be capable of handeling these kinds of situations
