1. Welder

1.1. A High School diploma is required. Training ranges from a few weeks of technical school. Or several years of on the job training.

1.1.1. Beginning Welding is a class offered at SLHS that can be taken if you are a junior or senior. The class does require a pre requisite of successful completion of Foundations of Manufacturing technology. The course offers instructions in flat and horizontal welding. It also covers shielded metal arc welding, Oxy- Acetylene cutting and welding, braze welding, plasma arc cutting and Gas Tungsten arc welding.

1.1.2. Welders work outdoors often in inclement weather or indoors. Usually a confined area to contain sparks and glare. When working outdoors the might work on a scaffold or platform high off the ground.

1.1.2.1. Most welders work full time and overtime is very common. Many manufacturing firms have three 8-12 hour shifts each day. As a result welders may have to work evenings and weekends.

2. EMT

2.1. You have to take your core classes in High School and Graduate.

2.1.1. To be an EMT you only have to have your High School Diploma or GED to be an EMT.

2.1.2. You have to have 10 hours in the Emergency room and 100-120 hours spent in a class room. This will get you you're EMT certification

2.1.3. Drivers Education, Health, and Science courses are strongly recommended or may be required to be an EMT.
