1. Business Needs, when you take on an intern it is more than someone to do "grunt" work they can add to your business. But how do you permit them to become full functioning member's of your team?

1.1. What are the tasks interns are asked to preform in their normal day to day position?

1.1.1. Include company hand book or detail of company policies

1.1.2. Write and share with interns detailed job descriptions, end job description with notes that with progression more tasks will be assigne

1.1.3. Express whom is their supervisor and whom can assign work, often interns express they have no idea who is their boss and tend to follow those they are friendly with or those they admires advice/direction

1.1.3.1. Detailing whom is in charge also gives intern sense of direction and allows them to step out of their comfort zone as to impress their new bosses.

1.2. Create a desire to teach/learn within your organization Create a mentor program, this will also increase current employees satisfaction and desires to work harder as well as create an accepting environment within your organization

1.2.1. Have mentors pair with interns to show them the ropes and give personal insight to how your organization conducts day to day business.

1.2.2. Encourage mentor/intern teams to meet and review interns progression weekly outside of the office, making it less threatening and making the team more comfortable with one another

2. Intern's Needs Assessment By determining not only what you need of an intern but whom they are and how they benefit your organization can assist your company in gaining great interns. Create a simple introduction assessment to determine these things

2.1. What level of knowledge do they posses? Have them demonstrate skills by giving mock personal/business situations

2.1.1. Utilize skills the intern has and start them with tasks that pair to those skills

2.1.1.1. Gradually increase the level of work requested and add more skill sets to those tasks

2.2. What skills do they already posses? Create assessment that demonstrate all skills necessary to preform interns daily duties.

2.2.1. Writing, communication and presentation skills are all necessary but what else do they possess?

2.2.1.1. Did they play sports?=team player

2.2.1.2. Art they artist?=presentation,drawing, graphics for customers

2.2.1.3. Are they crafty?= methodical, can spend hours on one task

2.3. Where will they benefit the company the most? Require written essay on where the intern thinks they will benefit the organization.

2.3.1. Are the interns people/persons? YES-Have them interact with staff customers regularly. No- Have them work alone with minimal supervison

2.3.2. Are they knowledgeable? They understand and excel at day to day tasks, include them in more important business functions.

2.3.3. Can they take on higher level tasks?-Permit them to work on projects with minimal supervision to determine.

3. How will you train? Training right is essential to intern's survival within your organization

3.1. Will this be online, in class, on the job? Determining how, where and when you will train is vital.

3.1.1. Training online=interns can self pace training and enter workforce ready to excel

3.1.2. Training on the job= tutoring and job functions are done according to company standards

3.1.3. Training in class=On the job functions are taught at high levels

3.1.4. Blended lessons=Training can be taught online or in classroom while being reinforced on the job. Demonstrating the importance of the training and thus permitting intern's to retain and utilize more day one

3.2. Create training materials that meet the functions of the interns daily functions within your organization

3.2.1. Training materials should cover company standard as well as rules.

3.2.2. Training materials should align with company goals and should emphasize company mission statement
