Biography: Mark Tribe was born in 1966 in San Francisco, California. He got his B.A. in Visual art from Brown University in 1990, then got his MFA in visual art from the University of California, San Diego in 1994. In 1996 he founded an organization called Rhizome. It is an organization that supports the creation, presentation, preservation, and critique of emerging artistic practices that engage technology.He now teaches modern culture and media at Brown University, and lives in both Providence, RI and New York City. He is an artist and occasional curator who focuses his attention on new technologies and contemporary art. He is also the co-author of the book "New Media Art" which was released in 2006. This book that he co-wrote with Reena Jana looks at several themes in contemporary art. He recently just released another book titled The Port Huron Project: Reenactments of New Left Protest Speeches. His work has also been displayed in Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Park Avenue Armory in New York City, and the National Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow.
