1. New York's Public School #244 is America's first school to offer an all-vegetarian cafeteria menu.
1.1. Not contributing to animal suffering is clearly on many children's minds, and the majority of the students preferred the vegetarian dish over dishes with meat.
1.2. "I don't see any negatives to it" says Nutritionist Alycia Lee, MS, CDN.
2. Sound nutrition is part of the school's mission to educate the whole child.
2.1. "When children get exposed to healthy food early in life, they are a lot more likely to carry these habits into adulthood" says a New York City-based nutritionist.
