Plants transport system by Mind Map: Plants transport system

1. Xylem transport

1.1. the xylem transports water

1.1.1. transpiration is driven by evaporation by the leaves and water molecules are linked in a chain that pulls it upwards the xylem only transports water in one direction

2. phloem transport

2.1. the phloem transports food wastes and nutrients

2.1.1. the plants uses photosynthesis and carbon dioxide to create sugar for the plant and the cells in the plant give of waste and the root absorbs nutrients to the phloem is the key to transporting all of those items which are essential for the plants survival the phloem transports this stick sap which contains sugar and nutrients in all directions

3. A tall tree

3.1. advantages

3.1.1. over tops its neighbours, spread out a huge surface area of leaves, through their pours they can suck up all the carbon dioxide

3.2. disadvantages

3.2.1. 90% of the water that is suck up by the roots is by the time it reaches the leaves

3.3. how it does it quietly

3.3.1. the central part of the tree is wood outside the wood are ranks of hair thin pipes which are immediately beneath the bark of the tree carry sap down from the leaves. Further inside the tree thunk are more hair thin pipes and those are the ones the carry the water. They are continues pipes that stretch for the whole length of the tree, some into the leaves. Some are use for the food making process in the leave and the rest evaporates for the pours as vapour
