by Tramaine Oliver
1. Operating System Definition: the software systems which manage the interaction between users and hardware.
2. Linux: Ubuntu
2.1. Pros:Frequently updated – A good Linux distribution changes its version atleast twice every year.
2.2. Cons:Lack of high quality professional software – While it is true that, Linux comes bundled with almost all applications that you need for general use, high end professionals may not find an alternative for their needs.
3. OS X
3.1. Pros:Applications – A large number of excellent professional applications are available in this platform and hence preferred by designers and other professionals.
3.2. Cons:Cost of ownership is high – User is not free to try it out by paying for the operating system alone, instead the user is forced to buy new hardware at premium prices.
4. Windows 7
4.1. Pros:Install is quick, easy and painless
4.2. Cons:Windows 7 is not easily upgraded from XP, it's the same process as XP to Vista
5. Google: Chromium
5.1. Pros:you can get anywhere on the Web with one box. The address bar that sits at the top of the normal Google Chrome window simplifies your Internet experience by doubling as a search box. You can also use it to bookmark websites and stay aware about the security of a website
5.2. Cons: Missing status bar. Although chrome claims to be of high speed, there are slow sites where status bar helps you know that something is being done by the browser.
