1.1. Family life in Rome was ruled by the paterfamilias or the "father of family".Roman men were expected to provide for their families.Roman babies were usually born at home and always kept healthy.Roman girls did not have a ceremony to mark the end of their childhood.

2.1. What Romans cooked depended on weather they were rich or poor.The main foods in Rome were bread, beans, spices, a few vegetables, cheeses, and meats.The people who were poor might have chunks of fish along with asparagus and fig for dessert. Wealthy Roman women or their slaves shopped for the perfect foods for fancy dinner parties.

3.1. Housing in Rome was just like food rich people and poor people had different types of housing. The rich had many different unique qualities to their house.The poor would have to crowded into tall apartment buildings for shelter sometimes.The apartments were cramped, noisy, and dirty. Filth and disease-carrying rats caused sickness to spread rapidly.

When growing up in Rome your education depended on the type of family you were born into.In wealthy families the children were usually tutored my their father or slaves till they were about 6.Boys from the wealthier class were usually in school till 16 rather than those who only go to school till the age of 12 or 13.When kids would go to school they would use this pointed pen which was called a stylus.Roman boys learned Latin,Greek,math,science,literature,music,and public speaking.

Wealthy people had lots of leisure because slaves did most the work for them.The rich enjoyed plays in theaters and musical performances in other peoples home.Roman emperors made sure to give the poor “bread and circuses” which is food and entertainment to keep them busy and happy.Romans watched gladiators fight in large public areas like Colosseum,A favorite gathering place was the Circus Maximus which is a huge racetrack with room for 200,000 spectators.A Roman poet once said the Circus Maximus was the best place to meet a new boyfriend or girlfriend because you would never know who would sit next to you.

Rome was one of many cities scattered throughout the roman empire.90% of the Roman empire lived in the country,Wealthy people often owned country estates with large homes called villas.The empire’s farms provided much of the food for Rome and other cities. They produced grain for bread, grapes for wine, and olives for oil. Goats and sheep provided cheese, and their skins and wool were made into clothing.

Rome had many different people living there.The senators that walk around outside are always protected by body guards while the soldiers march around.The people and goods that were located in Rome flow from 4 corners of the empire.The children in the community were lucky to live past the age of ten because most people lived in the filthy neighborhoods where there were lots of disease.

8.1. During the day of republic the Senate and the assemblies were an important source of law.In the empire they still honor old traditions.Even tho the Roman law was strict there was still a lot of crime.The people who lived in Rome always tried to protect themselves from crime.

9.1. Religion was very important to the Romans. Which meant that everyday they tried to please the Gods because they believed that the Gods controlled how they live everyday.When someone was sick or dying they would leave a small offering at a temple in the shape of the part of the body that was hurt.As the empire grew foreigners brought new forms of worship to Rome.
