1. Does procrastination play the largest part in distracting us?

1.1. Procrastination plays a large part in how we are distracted. Studies have long shown that students who begin or submit their work later tend to have negative academic outcomes. The measures of procrastination used in those studies may not have provided information timely enough for instructor intervention.

2.1. In the writing of Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence. It states that 90% of students use electronic devices during class. The study was based off of the survey of 777 students by associate Professor Barney McCoy at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

It was very informative and related the topic to another study and hyper links to those studies. It also had correlating charts for someone like me who is a visual learner.

3. Does every one have the ability to control themselves to not be distracted?

3.1. To find out if every one has the ability to control themselves I looked up the definition of self-discipline. Self-discipline is the control or restraint of oneself, one’s actions, or ones feelings. I retrieved this information from dictionary.com (2014).

3.1.1. I trust this website to be scholarly because it is not a blogging site. It also references in a hyperlink APA style of where you can also get the information. In Barbra Abercrombie's writing Personal Essays It asks if the essay gets right to the subject. Abercrombie (2010) I believe that self-discipline is the root of what everyone needs to have to not become distracted as an online learner.

4. Are friends and family the most common form of modern distractions?

4.1. I found a top 10 list of how people can be distracted when working from home. Family demanding attention was actually number one at 59%. Working from home is not exactly the same , but it does correlate. We deal with very similar distractions. Not to give away to much juicy info number ten was having bad posture at 20%.

5. The start of my research paper is to teach everyone about the definition of self control so the reader knows what they are looking for.

6. Procrastination will help lead up to the conclusion of my paper. It is an invisible distraction that can cripple a successful online learning career.

7. Conclusion

7.1. I will have covered how electronic devices affect online learners, how we can be effected by at home distractions, and how procrastination can kill our chances at receiving a degree or even staying in school. I will also be able to take what stats I have and be able to come up with a number of what is the largest distraction to the online learner.
