1. Enhances Student Learning

1.1. acquire skills to be creators, collaborators, critical thinkers and communicators

1.1.1. These are higher level skills which are our goal; however, i often see glogster being used as just a "poster". How do we get students to think and apply on a higher level when using this tool? -Dr. Fritz

1.1.1.1. I think because glogster is a collaborative tool that it would enhance higher order thinking skills by encouraging students to use critical inquiry in the form of questioning or challenging the ideas of others….also encourage the skill of analyzing and interpretation by providing evidence of idea with a conclusion, give examples, generalizations, and compare/contrast.

1.1.1.2. As a Drexel Student, I used a digital poster tool similar to this. It was a course requirement. It was my experience that it generated higher levels of "digital" thinking in terms of Bloom's Digital Taxonomy, and required creativity. However, it didn't engage a great deal of evaluation or application of the course content. T Scott

1.1.1.3. I am very interested in learning more about this app (which I will) because it is a tool that students use in my current classroom. In many ways, from what I have seen, it does encourage various higher order thinking skills but it happens back in real-time in the classroom when the students share, discuss, analyze, and comment on each other projects. I am guessing that there are built in digital social aspect too but I need to explore that more. I know there is the ability to add various multimedia elements, so students can add audio which would enhance their presentation beyond "just a poster". I think the key would be using Glogster in intentional ways that connects the media to content. This is the same criteria that would make a physical classroom project more than "just a poster" or "just a drawing". - JHughes

1.2. encourages student to gather, and synthesize to create their original product

1.2.1. This sounds like an app that would be great for a group project where students may not get ample time at school to work, and may need to work from home. -S. Goodyear

1.3. tool to create online collaborative project

1.3.1. Do users need to be added? or are there settings for public? I am just wondering who can edit projects. - C Miller

1.3.1.1. I found this site for glogster tutorials..it appears that students need to be added. http://edu.glogster.com/?page=videos&cat=ManagingStudentsClasses

1.3.1.2. Yes, we have been using Glogster in my placement classroom and it is my understanding that it is a safe online setting (with intentions for younger students) in which their glogs are only shared with those they want to share it with (i.e. controlled social media, not public social media). - JHughes

3.5.1. This is a really nice feature of Glogster! You would need to look for the "embed" code. -Dr. Fritz

3.5.2. I was thinking that this is a nice feature for many of these Web 2.0 online tools. The ability for a parent or family member to not just hear about what goes on in school but to actually see what is being produced is a big deal for those teachers and parents who are able and willing to nurture their relationship through digital means. - JHughes
