1. Middle Colonies
1.1. New York
1.1.1. King Charles' brother James founded New York
1.1.2. All James had to do was conquer New York from the Dutch.
1.1.3. People wanted this colony, because it was a prosperous trading area.
1.1.4. The French, Dutch, Swedish, and Portugese settled there. Also there were Puritans settled in long island.
1.1.5. After James conquered New York they named it after him. (the Duke of york.)
1.2. New Jersey
1.2.1. New Jersey was established in 1665. It split off from being the southern part of New York and fromed it's own colony.
1.2.2. It started off as a proprietary state (Being given a grant of land)
1.2.3. English colonies moved there.
1.2.4. Much like why New York was, it was just founded for prosperity and trading purposes.
1.2.5. In 1702 it received a charter to become a royal colony directly from the English king.
1.3. Pennsylvania
1.3.1. William Penn founded Pennsylvania.
1.3.2. Penn wanted to try out his Holy Experimant, which was making a colony filled with people from all different religious backgrounds to live peacefully.
1.3.3. Penn was very wealthy, so he just picked up the idea for his experiment and set off to claim his land.
1.3.4. People came form Scotland, Ireland, Wales, England, Switerland to live there.
