Persuasive Writing

1. This can be challenging for ELL students and will require some scaffolding when beginning the unit.

2.1. Speeches are great examples of persuasive writing and should be used as a visual/auditory aid.
2.2. Have students share their papers as speeches.

4.2. Use examples of strong written "voice"

5.1. Going back to basics.

6.1. Such as, speeches and political campaign adds.
6.2. Even commercials can work when explaining persuasive writing.
7. Real life topics
7.1. Allow students to pick their own topic so that they are passionate about it while they are writing.
