2.1. In the 1840's settlers began to arrive in california to settle but before that people only traveled to california to mostly trade

3.1. people from all over the world flocked over to California in search of quick riches, more than 80 thousand people came to California for gold in 1849 alone, these people were called forty-niners
4. The Oregon Trail
4.1. in early 1840's oregon fever swept through the mississippi valley.societies were formed to gather information. the great migration had begun.
5. Texas Independence
5.1. Sam Houston was born on March 2 1797 and died on July 26 1863, he lived in Virginia and Tennessee he was elected governor of Tennessee in 1827
5.2. Started drawing a new constitution in washington
5.3. Starting the idea in washington on march 2 1836
5.4. We have started the idea of independance for texas today, March 2nd 1836 what we are trying to do is some what like the declaration of the United states
