1.1. Inventions and discoveries are the result of scientists trying to challenge their own mental capacities. Putting them in charge of how their inventions are used might hinder their creative development for fear of misuse.

2. For some scientists, the sole purpose of inventing and discovering is to help mankind and further development, therefore they would be very concerned about how their inventions are used.

2.1. Thomas Edison and his invention, the light bulb.

2.2. GMO food - increase the supply of food, reducing hunger and starvation throughout the world

2.3. Albert Einstein, who created the famous mass-energy equation, opposed those who used the equation to create the nuclear bomb, as it was used to harm and not as an energy source, which was what he wanted.

5.1.1. Stem cell research has broken much ground in science and technology. However many people feel that it is just another stepping stone towards the highly controversial topic of human cloning. If scientists do not handle this technology with care, it may eventually lead to undesirable outcomes if used by the wrong people.
