What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? by Mind Map: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

1. Youtube: This was a great help for me because when I created a video on my laptop I could simply upload it onto my YouTube account, then embed it onto my blog. It also meant that I could delete the file off my laptop because it would still be uploaded on YouTube.

2. Soundcloud: This was a very easy and useful programme which helped me be creative vocally, and I could do it online and embed it onto my website very easily.

3. Blackmagic cameras: Filming with these was a brilliant experience as (I'm a photography student and know all about aperture and exposure etc.), I could use the camera to the best advantage to do some good filming. Unfortunately though on these cameras the sound quality is poor so we had to use an external microphone.

4. Microphones: When I was the sound recorder when we were filming, I came into it knowing nothing about it. I discovered a lot about it and how the angle of the microphone works to get the best sound quality.

5. Effects: These include colour-grading where you can alter the exposure and saturation which (while editing) really helped us enhance our film and create a clear image with some dark undertones. Unfortunately though we have a two minute shot at the beginning of our film which is very hard to colour correct as you can only create one layer to last the whole shot.

6. Uploading and Transforming footage: This was quite difficult in my group as we had to select a certain clip, count which number it was and find the number of the audio clip that matched up to it and synchronise them, something that took away our time when we could have been editing or colour-grading. But in doing this though we have great visual and audio quality in one clip.

7. Sound levels during editing: This was quite simple and it meant that we could exaggerate someone's voice or make it quieter to say something about their character (whether they're quite dominant or submissive), but also if we want someone the audience to know if someone's shouting/whispering etc.

8. Skype/Facebook: We used Skype to get in contact with one another when we weren't at school, as I live 300 miles away from London I couldn't easily go to people's houses. But this programme meant we could stay in contact with each other and talk about the film (almost) face to face. We also made a group on Facebook to send messages about what equipment we would need, we would talk about what film titles we would have, character choices (which actors would be playing who) and filming times/schedules etc.

9. Blogging: I found this very useful as I could place all my media onto one domain where it could be accessed on my phone, laptop etc. very easily. It also meant I wasn't dealing with paper and booklets as everything was uploaded online to see, but unfortunately I had to have internet to access my work and upload it.

10. Prezi: These are very useful, and a fascinatingly creative way to display your information. They make your powerpoint's fun to watch and the different styles of prezis means you can choose one for any topic/subject (e.g drama, geography)

11. iMovie: This was the programme I used to create all my films where I could cut clips, edit them together and create interesting themes (such as a news broadcast) that really made my videos creative and funny, but unfortunately I felt that on this software my effects, titles etc. were limited.

12. Lenses: I discovered with lenses that each one provides a different image (whether the width of the image be wide or small) and you should change lenses (depending on the zoom) on what type of shot you want (e.g close-up, establishing shot).

13. Camera movements: The equipment was very fascinating to use because of the wide range of shots it will let you do (such as the steadicam or the slider) and how it can enahnce your creativity with the camera.

14. Transitions: These were done very easily in Final Cut Pro and we just had to prolong them or make them shorter to fit what we wanted. A simple cut is also done very easily by just placing one shot over the other, which is simple and lets you choose where you want to have the cut.

15. Titles: This was done quite creatively in our film and it meant we could specialise our font, size and position of the title to suit us (as we wanted to do it in a very filmic style).

16. Lighting: In our film we used this to exaggerate someone's features and expose them to the audience so they can clearly see their facial expressions (so the audience know what they're thinking/feeling). You can also tell the rough age of the character by looking at their face (so the audience will understand Gusel is older than Tushkan).
