Brazil World Cup by Mind Map: Brazil World Cup

1. Brazil's economy has grown significantly thanks to thriving consumption, but has been having trouble with infrastructure and productivity.

1.1. Because of hosting this big event there is many opportunities for massive investments. The 12 host cities will benefit with expanded airports, improved transport systems and better telecommunication services.

2. The World Cup has a opportunity to boost international trade, making the country's companies more global. This is important in Brazil because under 1 percent of exports come from small and medium-sized businesses.

2.1. Foreign entrepreneurs have come to Brazil to do business during the preparation of the World Cup. If they take advantage of this opportunity they can build strong and lasting international ties.

3. Because of the big event, companies were encouraged to train there employes to learn new languages.

3.1. This can lead to higher wages, especially in a country where only a small portion speaks English.

4. Summary Of Situation

4.1. Brazil is hosting the Fifa World Cup, of 2014. It costs over 10.5 billion dollars to make these stadiums and to upgrade airports, ect. Brazil has promised that this is a great investment and it will boost economic trade, but Brazil's people say otherwise. They are protesting that Brazil should use the money to improve education and hospitals.

5. My Opinion

5.1. I also agree with Brazil's people that they should use there money for other uses. They spent so much money to make all of the stadiums and now they are just rotting.

7. The promised benefits from the world cup like (a boost in GDP, tax revenue, tourism, jobs and public transportation), are limited to the 12 host cities.

7.1. The jobs created by the event don't consider the increase in productivity, while companies might produce more and offer more service they aren't creating permanent jobs.

8. The total cost of the investment for the world cup is 25 billion reais ($10.5 billion)

8.1. The money is better used making a new hospital then a stadium. After the Brazil Cup these buildings are no longer in use, but if they built a new hospital instead, it will help the community and will last much longer.
