1. Multi-taskers

1.1. Students can do multiple things at once because they are technology dependent

1.2. 82% of kids are online by 7th Grade

2. Kids are out-teching their parents

2.1. Parents do not have the internet savvy their children do. This causes problems

2.2. Most parents naively think their children won't be exposed.

3. Students Need Guidance

3.1. Kids crave technology and we need to learn it to help guide them. Or, they will teach themselves and they lack the moral compass

3.2. We need to find positive ways to use technology in our classrooms

4. Apps

4.1. There are literally thousands of apps out there. They can be good or bad, our jobs as educators is to help them know the difference. This could come in the form of teaching them to use good judgment!

4.2. We need to teach kids about the apps and how to use them well. As educators we also need to keep communication open with the parents.

4.3. Finally, we can use apps in the classroom. There are many apps including things like Class Dojo that are actually good for students. Technology is not going away and we need to learn to adjust so we can guide the students!

5. Digital Citizenship

5.1. Norms of appropriate behavior in regard to technology.

5.2. This is a subject that should be taught to students to help them develop healthy consciences when using their electronics and the internet

6. Cyber-Bullying

6.1. This needs to be included in lesson plans. This is a very real problem and we need to be aware and stay on top of it as classroom teachers.

6.2. This will not go away!
