1. How do you become White in the U.S

1.1. You must look the part because race is the key to why there is such great indifference and inequality in the world

1.2. Must conform to views and actions that are of the majority. Stick to the status quo because if individuals want to survive it is by acting like the majority

1.3. Individuals like the Freedom Riders were individuals that stood up for what they believed in and their was both Black and Whites but the individuals that were White and in support of the movement were brutalized because they were seen as going against their "own kind" and picking savages over their blood.

2. What does it mean to be White in the U.S.

2.1. To be White was to have privilege and be able to call oneself superior to others simply for the color of ones skin

2.2. Being able to sit or eat where you wanted to was always in favor of Whites because Blacks had to use other facilitates. Brown vs the Board of Education to desegregate schools

2.3. To be White is to be unafraid and unapologetic for actions because individuals are able to impose ones will and disregard others. Treat others as anything but humans.

2.4. Blacks right to vote was taken away by Whites supremacists states.There were roadblocks to Blacks voting such as paying the voting tax, having white leaders deny them the opportunity to vote

2.5. Blacks were given a literacy test which was always in favor of whites and the Grandfather clause which stated that individuals were allowed to vote if their grandfather was able to vote in the Civil War which favored Whites again

3. Similarities between Spanish American War and the War with Mexico

3.1. Both wars dealt with their independence from Spain

3.2. Able to take hold of lands and were able to have expansion of territory which made for larger amounts of land to be used. The secession of Spain allowed for further control of resources

4. Differences and Similarities of becoming White for Italians and Jews

4.1. Irish and Blacks were clustered together and were seen as "colored" Irish were called "niggers turned inside out"

4.2. Race is not a major part of these individuals life but the necessaty to leave prison is what motivates their interactions. Race is then placed in the sidelines

4.3. Within prisons the color line tends to become blurred this might be due to the weakness of the term race

4.4. While the white skin of the Irish made them eligible for privileges that were granted to the Whites they must earn their place because they are still different.

4.5. Jews were also able to pass under the radar by stating that they were well educated becoming doctors, lawyers etc and they are able to look the part of White but they are still different because of beliefs/customs and religion

4.6. Jews were more likely to be considered White because they were affluent and were well off financial wise

5. Jim Crow Laws

5.1. Is a racial caste system that was a series of anti-black laws which made African Americans be seen like second-class citizens. Anti-black racism.

5.2. Various individuals saw Whites as the Chosen why Blacks were seen as cursed to be servants because God believed in segregation.

5.3. The goal was to drive out by death or other manners Blacks to maintain the idea that White was superior and supreme.

5.4. Impact of the Jim Crow laws was that it separated individuals on the basis of race or ones appearance which perpetuated violence and aggression and this idea of who is superior to who. Who is on top and who is on the bottom.

6. Spanish American War

6.1. The mistreatment of the Cubans by the Spanish ensued this idea of how Spanish rule was giving atrocities to the Cubans like if they were savages with stories reading of Spanish cannibalism, inhumane torture etc.

6.2. The Americans had to intercede because the Americans needed to be avenged for these atrocities to their honor.

6.3. Helping Cuba and the Philippians from escaping Spanish rule allowed for them to be independent but also gave way for this idea that America could take them under their wing to later take over them and expand their land. An example of Manifest Destiny
