2. Due to the cyclic relationship of these key themes it has help develop Macro Friends’ brand identity, which meant that the star image box was ticked during filming. I wanted the masks to be instantly recognisable by the fictitious audience as belonging to the members; hence the repetition of aesthetics, in key with the repetitive music.

3. A way in which I thought the combination of my main product and ancillary text was through the use of internal intertextuality between the website, digipak and music video. What I mean by internal intertextuality is where references are my to the fictional band in all of the three areas I worked within – however external examples include Die Antwoord’s I Fink U Freeky music video (The backdrop of the music video was hand-painted and looked like children’s drawings), Twenty One Pilots ( the artist’s faces are covered) and Ed Sheeran (having puppet characters that the masked band members could interact with).

4. Parts of the music video were Black and White: this was affective in alluding to the digipak and website (predominantly black and white aside from yellow accent colours), which created a constant aesthetic. In terms of marketing in the real world, it would make selling the digipak in a shop so much easier due to the fact that if the audience had watched either the music video or had visited the website, they’ll know what sort of style to look out for. This can also be inferred from the constant use of arial fonts (overlayed as lyrics on the music video, and featured on the digipak and website), masks (worn in the music video and part of the cd stick for the digipak), the band logo (used at the end of the music video; ‘MF’, and on the album cover), and the use of a skin texture ( flashes in odd parts of the music video, and is the background for both the website and the digipak.
