1. Beginning
1.1. Growing up I immediately knew that computers and gaming were my main interest in life.
1.2. At the age of six I built my first computer.
1.3. At the age of seven my parents bought me my first video game console a Super Nintendo.
1.4. In my teenage years I found myself to be very expressive through writing. I would read a variety of different genres, to expand my knowledge in writing.
1.5. Throughout my years in high school I began recording my gameplay in video games and post them on youtube and do live streaming on twitch.
1.6. In my junior year of high school I had an opportunity that was life changing, I got selected to take a year of college to learn game design and coding while I was still in high school. This event in my life allowed me to discover that I want to pursue a degree and career in video game design.
1.7. From that moment in life the video game industry was my goal in life.
2. Middle
2.1. The skill set looked for in this is industry includes: be able to work in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams,be able to present your ideas both verbally and on paper, be imaginative and creative, have good written and verbal communication skills, have good basic visual design and drawing skills, be reasonably fluent in a range of 2D and 3D graphics and animation packages, such as 3D Studio Max, NUKE or Maya, have some programming skills at least at ‘scripting’ level, have an awareness of the various games platforms and technologies, possess a thorough understanding of game play theory, have storytelling and narrative development skills, be skilled in information design and user interface design.
2.2. What makes me unique in this industry is my overall experience and knowledge I have had throughout life that I can incorporate into my work in the future. This will allow me to excel in my future of designing games, I am learning new ideas throughout my everyday life. This allows my ideas to expand to the world allowing others to see my vision of video games.
2.3. Some interesting facts that I have learned over the years is that the average gamer is not a teenager, but surprisingly a man or woman 31 years old, about half of the US household own a dedicated game console, about 46% of the games produced were rated E for Everyone.
2.4. I find all of these points relevant based on they how they offer insight on the demographics of which the gaming industry tends too.
2.5. The general knowledge I have about the gaming industry goes as far back to Super Mario Bros. That was my very first game when I was a kid, from there my knowledge about different genres and console evolved as the years went by. Currently I follow a majority of the companies and the titles they produce. I follow current stories on the companies via twitter, IGN, Game Informer, etc.
2.5.1. I am up to date on the latest game engines such as Unreal, Unity, Cryengine, Etc.
