1. Apollo was struck by Cupid's arrow and fell in love with Daphne.
2. Daphne was hit with Cupid's lead arrow and wanted to never marry. Apollo continued to chase her but she didn't want anything to do with him.
3. Daphne begged her father, Peneus, the god of the river, to help her.
4. Just as Apollo is about to catch up to Daphne, her father turns her into a laurel tree.
5. Apollo was devastated. He used his powers of youthfulness to keep the tree ever green.
6. He made a crown out of the tree's branches.
