1. The past coninous is used for actions that occurred at a specific time in the past. As the present continuous, it is formed whit the auxiliary to be is in the simple, but keep in mind that "to be" is an irregular verb
2. affirmate: Subject + auxiliary verb (to be) + gerund .
3. negative sentence Subject + auxiliary verb (to be) + "not" + gerund .
4. interrogative sentence: Auxiliary verb (to be) + subject + gerund ?
