2. The Sumerian religion was polytheistic. The gods controlled the natural forces. Each god controlled a different force of nature. Each god was said to protect a certain city-state.

8. Sumer was present in south-west Asia. The region is known as the "Fertile Crescent". It was in the middle of the Tigris and Euphrates River. This allowed for a very well implemented irrigation system.

11. It was mostly men who held political power. Women mostly took care of children. A few upper class women got education, but most women did not.

14. Most leaders in society were also usually also religious leaders. These leaders governed city-states. As the city-states started to wage war, war chiefs started to become political leaders. The leaders started to form dynasties.

23. Shang Worshiped a single god known as Shang Ti.
24. Shang belived Shang Ti connected the heavens and the earth. They also belived he instructed the souls of their ancestors.
25. Zhou belived in a god similar to Shang Ti called Shangdi.
26. Zhou worshiped Tian or heaven believing it was a more powerful force than Shangdi.
27. Shang was classified by peoples roles in the community. The king had the most power followed by the military, priests, merchants, and farmers.

30. The structure of Zhou's social pyramid gave military a lot of power but the most powerful people were those who had connections to the king through blood or strategic views.
