The Year of the Hangman By Gary Blackwood by Mind Map: The Year of the Hangman By Gary Blackwood

1. Reading Journal

1.1. Journal #1:

1.1.1. I am really upset at my mom for sending me away to a ship and to an uncle I just barely met. Besides that I am pretty scared, nervous, and too many emotions are going on inside of me. The people on the ship thought that women aboard the other ship we saw but, it was just a trick to lower us in. It worked and caught us all of guard.

1.2. Journal #2:

1.2.1. Creighton changes by gradually liking Franklin and Sophie. The major events that happened to Creighton that make him change are that Sophie was taking care of him after the fire and the prisoners went to go look for the Liberty Tree and set the shop on fire. If it weren’t for Creighton telling his uncle where the Liberty tree was this wouldn’t have had happened. He thinks it is all his fault (kinda is). The plan that Arnold and Creighton thought up of was that Creighton is going to tell his uncle false information.

1.3. Journal #3:

1.3.1. Creighton is a hero in some sorts. He has made some troubles along the way but overall is a hero. He is a hero in his own way, not every hero needs a superpower and cape. He has helped Franklin and Sophie in so many ways when he was supposed to be figuring out their plans to tell his uncle. He has made a mistake for telling his uncle about the Liberty Tree. Besides those little mistakes he has learned and is just going with what he believes is right for him to do. He took a bullet which is pretty heroic to me. He has told his uncle the wrong information and it worked. He tricked him and it was a part of Arnald's plan. He decoded a code but, he made it up and told his uncle the lie. He wrote it on a separate piece of paper so it seemed like he did it on that paper and not on a different one. Next Paragraph: He is a hero to me because even though he was supposed to be helping his uncle and supposed to be pretending to “work” for Franklin, he continues to do what is best in his mind and what he thinks is best for what he believes in. I think the best heros are the people who do what are best for themselves and for others as well. You should always care what makes you happy as well not just others. If someone tells you something that you are not comfortable with or don’t believe in don’t do it because it’s your choice not anyone else's.
