1.1. With today's generation constantly communicating on the internet, netiquette and civility, along with grammar, seems to dissipate in order to communicate faster. How does today's generation effectively and properly communicate on the internet formally and with civility?

1.1.1. One simple way to communicate effectively is to use proper grammar. Once that is achieved, using politeness and courtesy is the next step in achieving proper netiquette.

2.1. It all comes down to have respect for your fellow classmates and instructors. In the end, have civility and netiquette in your classroom is not only polite, it will benefit you in the long run by allowing you to effectively communicate and creating vital relationships with other students who may be able to assist you during your classes. It also allows you to present yourself as a mature individual, and you'll be taken more seriously.

3. Netiquette

3.1. Netiquette: The "net" from internet mixed with etiquette. A basic rule we should have all learned as children: Do unto others as you'd have others do unto you. Most of us fail to remember that we're actually communicating with real human beings over cyberspace.

4. Civility

4.1. Civility is derived from the Latin word "civitas", which implies "city or community". The online classrooms we participate in are our virtual communities. We must rely on each other to accomplish our common academic goals. We must learn to respect each other

5. Consequences of Incivility and not practicing proper Netiquette.

5.1. We must remember that everything that is done over the internet, stays on the internet. Many people who come into power start facing hardships due to posts they may have done online months, even years ago. Improper conduct in an online classroom can result in serious consequences such as being kicked from your course. If you were insulting or being hostile towards another person, they may even be able to press charges against you for harassment.

6. How to ensure students know how to act in an online environment.

6.1. First and foremost, students must know proper grammar and have some form of politeness. Incorrect spelling or wrong use of punctuation may accidently create an offensive situation. Next, ensure the instructor presents his expectation sot hat students know how to act. Finally, the instructor may create lessons for students to learn about civility and netiquette.
