1. Thermal

1.1. The total potential and kinetic energy related to the motion of all the microscopic particles in an object make up its thermal energy

1.2. When an object moves fast it produces heat, this is called thermal energy

1.3. When melting metal it gets hot and becomes thermal energy,

1.4. When the wheels on a car skid it gets hot, thermal energy

2. Chemical

2.1. The energy stored in chemical bonds.

2.2. The energy stored inside of things until released to create motion

2.3. While around the campfire the wood in the fire releases chemical energy for the fire to work on roasting a marshmellow

2.4. In a car the gasoline is the chemical energy, it gives the energy needed to put the car in motion.

3. Electrical

3.1. The energy associated with electric charges

3.2. makes energy to work things

3.3. electric energy is in batteries that will make a flashlight turn on

3.4. Electric energy is what makes a lightening bolt

4. Electromagnetic

4.1. A form of energy that travels through space in the form of waves

4.2. Energy that travels all over but is invisible

4.3. The suns light gives off electromagnetic energy

4.4. X-rays

5. Nuclear

5.1. The energy stored in atomic nuclei

5.2. Energy that is stored together until released

6. Kinetic

6.1. The energy of motion

6.2. What sets things into a moving motion

6.3. If I push with my hand, my hand is what put the ball into motion. So my hand would be the kinetic energy.

6.4. If a stick pokes a ball and the ball starts rolling the stick would be the kinetic energy.

7. Potential

7.1. Energy that is stored as a result of position or shape

7.2. Energy with potential to do work

7.3. The strings on a guitar are potential energy. They are stretched out until someone plucks them then they become into motion.

7.4. Holding a book in the air would be potential energy until the book was dropped to the ground.

8. Mechanical

8.1. The energy associated with the motion and position of everyday objects.

8.2. What gives motion energy

8.3. When a train is speeding, the fuel is its mechanical energy.

8.4. While someone is running, their mechanical energy is their body cells
