Autumn nights brought soccer games that held the greatest weight in my memory.by Daniel Queen
1. In the locker room before each game there was a ritual. A boom-box placed above the man sized lockers blasting heavy metal music. Anything to get our heads into "kill mode."
1.1. Psych up
1.2. Walking onto the field
1.3. Pre-game warm ups
1.4. Coach's speech
2. The whistle screams, and the first pass between the center and forward signifies the start of the game.
2.1. Chasing opposing players
2.2. Reading other player's faces
2.3. Defending
2.4. Attacking the opposing goal
2.5. Cleats tearing up the ground
3. When I hear a whistle blow, or an air horn screech, I still recall moments of those nights playing soccer. No matter how much time passes. It seems to be ingrained into my memory like hieroglyphics into pyramid walls.
3.1. My brain being ingrained with soccer memories
3.2. The warm feeling I get even years later
3.3. Nostalgia
4. An air horn blasts out as if you were standing next to a cruise ship docking. The game's over. Struggling for breathe you don't realize the score until you double check to make sure you still commanded the lead as the game ended.
