Dark Places

1. Cause: Ben started to do drugs with his friends. Effect: Ben killed his neighbor's cows, bulls, and he helped kill his family.

2. Cause: Libby was hiding from the killers, and was sitting in the snow for four hours. Effect: Libby got frostbite, and had to amputate two of her toes and a portion of her left ring finger.

3. Cause: Libby found Diondra and her niece, Crystal, and found out that Diondra killed Michelle, her older sister. Effect: Diondra and Crystal try to kill Libby for "knowing too much information."

4. When Libby took the job offer, she found out more about her past, her brother, and the murders. If she didn't take the job offer, Libby would have run out of money in the donation fund she had, she would have to get a job that she would hate (Libby does not like office jobs, and that was her last resort) and she would carry on knowing little about her past.

5. Libby testified that her brother killed the rest of their family, Because of this, Ben (her brother) gets a life sentence in jail, and none of the other killers get any time in jail. If Libby never testified that Ben was the killer, Ben would not have gone to jail, Libby would know more about her past and her family, she would have been less lonely as a child, gotten no more letters from angry women telling her that her testimony was wrong, and she would have known her niece when she was born.

6. Cause: Patty Day was shot twice in the head with a shotgun on January 3rd, 1985, killing her. Effect: Patty Day was Libby Day's mother, and when she was killed Libby was forced to go and live with her Aunt Diane, and became an orphan.

7. Diondra and Ben became pregnant. If they had not become pregnant, they would pot have done drugs. The drugs resulted in the killing of the neighbors cattle, bulls, and his family. If Diondra and Ben did not become pregnant, then they would not have done the drugs. If they did not do the drugs, the neighbor's cows and bulls, Patty Day, Michelle Day, and Debby Day would not have died.
