3. What is it?
3.1. Cell division that creates two genetically identical daughter cells.
4. What does it do?
4.1. Divides a somatic parent cell into two identical daughter cells. Somatic cells are body cells.
5. Why does it happen?
5.1. To create new cells whenever cells are needed. For example, if you scrape your knee, more cells would be produced through mitosis to help heal it.
