1. DIGIPAK

1.1. GEMOETRICAL SHAPES USED AS TELEPORTS

1.1.1. THIS ELEMENT CAN BE SEEN IN CLEAN BANDITS DIGIPAK. I HAVE FOUND IT VERY INTRIGUING AS IT PROVIDES THE DIGIPAK WITH A SURREAL ELEMENT WHICH REFLECTS THE PROGRESSIVE HOUSE GENRE. IN CLEAN BANDITS DIGIPAK TRIANGLES, SPHERES AS WELL AS SQUARES HAVE BEEN USED TO MIRROR THE SURROUNDING HOWEVER IN MY DIGIPAK I PLAN TO USE GEOMETRICAL SHAPES IN THE FORM OF A TRIANGLE TO CREATE A 'TELEPORT' IMPRESSION. I WILL EXPERIMENT WITH THIS IDEA AND WOULD TRY TO GAIN A CLEAR OVERLAY OF IMAGE WITHIN THE TRIANGLE OVER A BACKGROUND IMAGE.

1.2. USE OF VIBRANT COLOURS

1.2.1. WITHIN MY RESEARCH I HAVE COME ACROSS VARIOUS PROGRESSIVE HOUSE DIGIPAKS SUCH AS ZEDDS 'TRUE COLOURS' ALBUM. THE USE OF VIBRANT COLOURS WITHIN THE DIGIPAK HAS BEEN MAINLY APPLIED DUE TO THE PROGRESSIVE HOUSE GENRE. I CHOOSE TO APPLY VIBRANT COLOURS TO MY PROGRESSIVE HOUSE DIGIPAK AS BY THIS I WILL BE ABLE TO REINFORCE ITS FAST TEMPO AS WELL AS DYNAMIC NATURE AS WELL AS THE PARTY ASSOCIATIONS WITHIN THE GENRE. I PLAN TO IMPLEMENT VIBRANT COLOURS WITHIN THE BACKGROUND OF MY DIGIPAK OR OVERLAY CONTRASTING COLOURS ON ANY TYPOGRAPHY SUCH AS THE ALBUM TITLE.

1.3. TYPOGRAPHY PLACEMENT

1.3.1. BY COMPLETING THE DIGIPAK RESEARCH I HAVE NOTICED THAT ARTISTS FROM VARIOUS GENRES PLACE THEIR TYPOGRAPHY IN VARIOUS PLACES AROUND THE DIGIPAK. IN TERMS OF PROGRESSIVE HOUSE, ARTISTS SUCH AS ZEDD HAVE PLACED THEIR ARTIST LOGO AND ALBUM TITLE TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE ADVERT. ON THE OTHER HAND, ARTISTS SUCH AS AVICII MAINLY PLACE THEIR ALBUM TITLE WITHIN THE MIDDLE OF THE CANVAS WHICH IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO FOLLOW IN MY DIGIPAK CREATION. CONCLUDING, I WOULD LIKE TO PLACE THE ALBUMS TITLE IN THE MIDDLE WITH THE ARTIST LOGO TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE DIGIPAK.

1.4. IMAGES

1.4.1. IN TERMS OF IMAGES WHICH ARE USED WITHIN PROGRESSIVE HOUSE DIGIPAKS, THEY ARE MAINLY REPLACED WITH GRAPHICAL CONTENT. THE GRAPHICAL CONTENT IS MAINLY BASED ON ABSTRACT DESIGNS SUCH AS THE ONE VISIBLE IN ZEDDS 'TRUE COLOURS' ALBUM. LOOKING AT OTHER ARTISTS, I HAVE FOUND THAT AT TIMES THE GRAPHICAL CONTENT SUCH AS THE IMAGE IS REPLACED BY LARGE TYPOGRAPHY WHICH IS PLACED AGAINST A SIMPLE BACKGROUND. A LAST ELEMENT WHICH I HAVE FOUND THAT CAN ADDITIONALLY BE SEEN IN ZEDDS DIGIPAKS, IS THE USE OF PEOPLE WITHIN THE COMPOSITION ON THE BACKGROUND. AMONGST OTHER DANCE ARTISTS/BANDS SUCH AS RUDIMENTAL THEY HAVE USED A REAL LIFE LOCATION AS A BACKGROUND WHICH I BELIEVE IS VERY EFFECTIVE. CONCLUDING, I WOULD LIKE TO USE A REAL LIFE IMAGE AS THE BASE FOR MY DIGIPAK AND EXPERIMENT WITH APPLYING A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE ARTIST ONTO THE DIGIPAK.

2. ADVERT / POSTER

2.1. SAME CONTENT AS IN DIGIPAK

2.1.1. WHILST COMPLETING MY RESEARCH ON ALBUM ADVERTS I HAVE FOUND THAT THE ADVERTS MAINLY CARRY ON ELEMENTS FROM THE DIGIPAK SUCH AS THE USE OF TYPOGRAPHY AND THE BACKGROUND IMAGE. WITHIN MY OWN DIGIPAK CREATION I WILL CONSIDER FOLLOWING THIS CONVENTION, AND WOULD USE THE SAME BACKGROUND IMAGE AND TYPOGRAPHY FROM THE DIGIPAK WITHIN MY ADVERT. BY THIS I WILL CREATE A CORPORATE IDENTITY BETWEEN THE TWO MEDIUMS ALLOWING FOR CORPORATE MARKETING.

2.2. PLACEMENT OF TYPOGRAPHY

2.2.1. DUE TO MY RESEARCH I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE ALBUM ADVERTS MAINLY FOLLOWED THE TYPOGRAPHY PLACEMENT WHICH HAS BEEN APPLIED ON THE DIGIPAK. AS A RESULT OF THIS I WILL PLACE THE ALBUMS TITLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ADVERT WITH THE ARTISTS LOGO PLACED TOWARDS THE BOTTOM. ADDITIONALLY I WILL INCLUDE THE NECESSARY INFORATION WHICH FOLLOWS THE CONVENTIONS OF ADVERTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ADVERT AS THIS IS THE TYPICAL PLACEMENT WHICH CAN BE SEEN THROUGHOUT THE VAST VARIETY OF ADVERTS WITHIN MY RESEARCH. BY BALANCING THE INFORMATION BETWEEN THE TOP OF THE ADVERT AND THE BOTTOM I WIL NOT OVER-CROWD THE ADVERT MAKING IT PLEASING FOR THE EYE AS WELL AS INTERESTING FOR THE AUDIENCE AS THE INFORMATION WILL VISUALLY GUIDE THEM AND INFORM THEM AT THE SAME TIME.

2.3. CODES & CONVENTIONS OF ADVERT WHICH WILL BE USED

2.3.1. IN COMPARISON TO GENRES SUCH AS R&B AND POP, PROGRESSIVE HOUSE ADVERTS ARE MAINLY SUBTLE WITH THE INFORMATION THEY PROVIDE. AS A RESULT OF MY RESEARCH IN MY ADVERT I WILL INCLUDE ELEMENTS SUCH AS: RELEASE DATE, RECORD LABEL INFORMATION, TRUSTED SOURCE REVIEWS, TOUR DATES AND THE WEBSITE/SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS. BY DEFINITELY INCLUDING SUCH INFORMATION WITHIN MY ADVERT I WILL MAKE SURE THAT IT IS INFORMATIVE FOR THE AUDIENCE AND NOT ONLY ATTRACT THEM WITH THE USE OF IMAGES AND COLOUR. THE USE OF VARIOUS CODES & CONVENTIONS CAN BE DEVELOPED WITHIN MY MAKING DEPENDING ON MY EXPERIMENTATION OF INFORMATION PLACEMENT AND COMPOSITION.

2.4. INSPIRATION GAINED FROM ALREADY EXISTING ADVERTS

2.4.1. TO SUCCESFULLY GENERATE IDEAS FOR MY ADVERT I HAVE GAINED INSPIRATION FROM ARTISTS SUCH AS ZEDD, AVICII, RUDIMENTAL AND CLEAN BANDIT DUE TO THEIR ADVERTS BEING VERY EFFECTIVE. FROM ZEDDS AND AVICIIS ADVERTS I HAVE PICKED UPON THE TYPOGRAPHY USE AND ITS PLACEMENT WITHIN THE ADVERT IN ORDER FOR THE INFORMATION TO FLOW THROUGH THE CANVAS. LOOKING AT RUDIMENTALS ADVERT, I HAVE TAKEN INSPIRATION FROM IT AND DECIDED TO USE A FULL SIZE, REAL IMAGE AS MY BACKGROUND. BY USING SUCH IMAGE I BELIEVE IT WILL ATTRACT THE AUDIENCES ATTENTION DUE TO ITS USE OF VISUAL VOCAB SUCH AS LINES, TEXTURES, SHADOWS AND COLOURS.
