1.1.3. Selected students were chosen to be monitors who reported people betraying The Wave.

1.2. In real life, we deal with multiple examples of this like family, school, and work.

1.2.1. Parents or other guardians are in charge of you at home.

1.2.2. The principal and teachers have authority at school.

1.2.3. Managers have power over you at work.

1.3. The Wave is related to real life because in any given establishment or movement, there will be authority, power, and leaders.

2. Social Indentity

2.1. In The Wave, most people let their Wave membership be their social identity

2.1.1. Some people liked being a part of something bigger

2.1.2. Others enjoyed feeling equal to everyone else

2.1.3. A few joined it because they trusted their teacher

2.1.4. Some joined because they were afraid of what might happen to them if they don't

2.2. In real life, people let certain things define them which makes groups and cliches. Some examples are:

2.2.2. Sports

2.2.3. Wealth

2.2.4. Learning

2.2.5. Background

2.3. Real life is like The Wave because people let specific topics define who they are and associate themselves only with people that are the same way.

3. Peer Pressure

3.1. People were pressured to join The Wave

3.1.1. Some people were beaten up

3.1.2. Others were ignored by Wave members

3.1.3. Most were verbally abused to join

3.2. Friends pressure you to do things you may not want to do, such as:

3.2.1. Drugs

3.2.2. Drinking

3.2.3. Sexual Activity

3.3. The Wave and real life are similar in the aspects that people were forced to do things they did not want to do by being abused physically and emotionally.
