Affects of the Industrial Revolution

1. the growth of cities

1.1. urbanization occurred and more was happening in cities, which attracted more people

1.1.1. more jobs began to open up in the city, which needed less education

2. the production of more goods

2.1. more goods being produced meant more jobs were being opened up

2.2. new inventions were being created in order to make factories more productive

2.2.1. in 1705 Thomas Newcomen developed the steam engine, which kickstarted the mass production movement

3. better working conditions

3.1. as more developments were made in factories, less child labor was needed

3.2. as factories became safer and more useful, there were less casualties and therefore more opportunities for those who were disadvantaged

4. the emergence of the middle class

4.1. the capitalist economy made society more friendly to members of the middle class

4.2. as wealth increased in cities, the middle class began to thrive

4.3. the middle class began to grow and take more jobs, in order to stimulate the economy
