2. How does your product represent particular social groups? by Mind Map: 2. How does your product represent particular social groups?

1. The mise-en-scene I used when constructing my product was important to consider as it represents the intend social group I am aiming for. I am aiming for the social groups who are into Hip-Hop, old school Hip-Hop as well as freshman Hip-Hop.

2. Within Hip-Hop, there is not a large amount of bright and happy colours used as this genre of music is seen as aggressive and raw, which is what I managed to portray on the artist face. Another way in which my magazine represents social groups is how I mentioned other Hip-Hop artists who would feature in the magazine as means of interacting and drawing the target audience to read the magazine. In addition to this, I did not just want to represent my magazine as Hip-Hop music but the lives of individual artist especially woman in the industry, which I managed to do by having a one to on interview with an artists.

3. In order for my media product to represent different social groups I have tried to incorporate an interview that would allow the readers to relate with the artist, as well as the image I used which required a lot of Photoshop editing in order for it to be relatable and suitable for the interview. Furthermore, in the photos I shot I ensured the mise-en-scene would also represent the social groups by having the artist dress in clothing that I thought Hip-Hop artists as well as general members of the public might wear again to relate with the target audience. Using popular items of clothing or clothing colours also represents the particular social group I am aiming for. Whilst researching other magazines I was able to identify what my target social group may enjoy reading.

4. My house style and colour scheme is continued throughout my magazine as the reader can identify with the bold dark colours used and may find it appealing which could attract them to read the magazine. In addition to this my magazine will all feature new artists, which my social group may recognise again which may entice them to read the magazine.

5. The artist wears large hoop earring, which connotes elegance, but dominate nature, which emphasises the countertype idea I intended to create presenting her as role model to other independent girls who may read the magazine or are a part of the Hip-Hop industry; this reflects my primary target audience who are young females between the ages of 17-24.
