1. Definition:

1.1. An operating system (OS) is software, consisting of programs and data, that runs on computers and manages the computer hardware and provides common services for efficient execution of various application software.

2. Mac OS X

2.1. Pros:

2.1.1. The software and hardware are designed to work together for optimal experience

2.1.2. It is built on a UNIX core which is very secure and as such there are very few virus that can attack it.

2.1.3. Programs are not married to one another, so if one locks up the whole computer doesn't lock up and the program can be restarted

2.2. Cons:

2.2.1. Apple Machine's are expensive. For the cost of a basic Apple system, one can buy a high performance PC which comes pre-installed with Windows 7

2.2.2. Windows is still the premier gaming PC, you can still run many games on Mac OS X but not all of them

2.2.3. Speed wise it can be slower with 3-D rendering and graphics intensive programs even if you have the best Mac you can buy

3. Windows 7

3.1. Pros:

3.1.1. The Action Center puts all the nags in one place

3.1.2. Win7's security is stronger and less intrusive

3.1.3. You can make a movie of what ails your PC

3.2. Cons:

3.2.1. It is still a terrible process of waking up the computer from hibernation

3.2.2. Still impaired keyboard support

4. Fedora 14

4.1. Pros:

4.1.1. It is a free and open source OS. The user can change the programming or coding on the operating system to fit their need

4.1.2. Up-to-date cutting edge linux distribution

4.2. Cons:

4.2.1. New release can be a bit buggy and usually takes a while for most bugs to get addressed.

4.2.2. Software installation for the system may be a hassle for new users.

4.2.3. It is definitely not an OS for gaming. But it is dominant for security, stability and programming
