CHAPTER 3: TEXT

1. TYPEFACE (ex:Bookman Old Style) -many type sizes & styles. FONT (ex: Arial 18 Point Bold) -beloging to a particular typeface family.
1.1. 1.FONT STYLES -boldface, italic, underlining, outlining 2.FONT TERMINOLOGY - baseline, cap height, x-height, ascenders/ descenders, kerning, tracking, serif vs sans serif, cases
2. THE TEXT ELEMENTS USED IN MULTIMEDIA -menus for navigation -interactive buttons -fields for reading -HTML documents -symbols & icons
3. CHOOSING TEXT FONTS -Legibility & readability. -Avoid too many faces. -Use color purposefully -Use anti-aliased text. -Use drop caps & initial caps for accent. -Minimize centered text. -Use white space. -Use animated text to grad attention.
4. BITMAPS vs VECTOR
4.1. BITMAPS- consist of a matrix of dots or pixels representing the image.
4.2. VECTOR- use instructions and mathematical formula to describe each glyph.
5. HYPERTEXT -contains links to other texts. HYPERMEDIA - not constrained to be text-based. -media (e.g. graphic, images, sound, video)
5.1. HYPERMEDIA STRUCTURES- links, nodes, anchors.
