1. Stamp Act 1765 - Require colonists to pay taxes on all printed paper. Placed a tax on ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and playing cards. Caused the colonists to start to feel restricted and made them start to get the rebellious mind set.
1.1. The Sons of Liberty 1766 - A secret group of colonists that formed to protect the rights of the colonies and to fight British taxation. They played a major role in fighting the Stamp Act.
1.1.1. Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773 - A political protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston. The protesters destroyed an entire shipment of tea by the East India Company.
1.1.1.1. 11 Intolerable Acts 1774 - A series of laws passed by the British Parliament to punish the colonies for the Boston Tea Party. This caused the colonists to want independence even more.

1.1.2. 12 Boston Massacre March 5, 1770 - A group of colonists were protesting outside the Customs House in Boston. They were protesting the occupation of their city by British troops, who were sent to Boston in 1768 to enforce unpopular taxation
