1. Militarism

1.1. Countries were funding more money into building larger military forces.

1.2. Various countries were building armies to discourage others in attacking them.

1.3. The advances in technology galvanized other countries into researching more technology.

2. Nationalism

2.1. The citizens of various countries were excited and proud to go to war.

2.2. People wanted to extract revenge or show their strength by going into war, thus provoking other countries to join the war.

3. Imperialism

3.1. Counties tried to expand their borders to increase their empire's size.

3.2. Empires were created by using "Military, Political and/or Economic" control.

3.3. By forcing people into joining new empires, the people were always angry and upset.

4. Alliances

4.1. Alliances were formed to ensure a group of countries won't attack or break any of the terms created by the treaty.

4.2. By creating alliances, the "balance of power" remained equal until the treaties made countries join the war.
