3.1. Style of academic writing

3.1.1. Objective, formal language, subdued, longer and more complex sentences, established conventions of the genre, detailed referencing, citation style is developed by APA, use of the third person.

3.2. Characteristics of academic writing

3.2.1. The writer has to be an impartial observer, presentation of pros and cons of the position, its tone is cautious and tentative, clarity is very important, it gives the reader the same meaning, it is literary criticism, some words used in ordinary communication are not welcome, some symbols are avoided, what the writer means should be clear to the reader.

3.3. Content: Results, findings, methodology, literature review, etc.

3.4. Purpose: To communicate scientific knowledge

3.5. Audience: Scientific community
