1.1. -Is copy and paste really that valuable? It promotes plagiarism.  -Fair Use vs. Intellectual Property

1.2. Creative Commons...This tells you what rights the user of the source has.  -how much can I actually use?

1.3. -At what point is it too much when using a resource? -to be safe, if you want to use something, make sure it is in the public domain. And give credit where credit is due!

2. Digital Footprints

2.1. -There are websites to help track this for kids. -this makes it easy to understand the concept

2.2. Knowing what you leave behind or add to the world of technology and the internet is important! This makes your careful on what you post, participate in, or read.

2.3. -What you do online is always retrievable, even after you "delete" it. -Is all the time you spend online worth it? What other useful things could you be doing? -Nothing is really "private". -everyone is a source of information, but that does not mean it is accurate. -Be vigilant, be wary about what you post online. If you do not want others/strangers to know...do not post it!

What you need to know: -The Lingo -We now create media not just users or consumers of media -What information is safe/appropriate to share -Digital Citizenship allows you to fully participate -What you do online matters! Think before your click. -Know your privacy settings to keep yourself safe -Realize that technology is changing -Respect/Educate/Protect

4. Is it safe?

4.1. -Technology is always changing!  -Many do not know the privacy settings!

4.2. - Students use it to communicate, do work, etc. -You need to know what is appropriate to use for each purpose and how to use it.

4.3. -You can use filtering systems, blockers -Media Smarts -Know the copyright standards! -Know the authenticity of the source, it may not be accurate or true! -Know how to critically analyze the source of information. (things might look real, but are actually tricking you!)
