4. Setting:
4.1. Firefighters burn books to keep society in line. They do not save homes, or other structures.
4.2. Books are illegal: Books have ideas and knowledge, which is a threat to the government. The government can better control a dumb society. Ideas and knowledge make people question how things are, makes people see the faults in the world.
5. Thief
5.1. Steals Books: "Now he plunged the book under his sweaty armpit, and rushed out quickly with a magicians's flourish".

5.2. Hides books: "Then he reached up and pulled back the grill of the air-conditioning system and reached far back inside to the right and moved still another sliding sheet of metal and took out a book".
5.3. Why: Clarisse asked Montag if he was happy. That led Montag to realize he is not happy. So in result of that he tries to cure his unhappiness by reading books. "...And I thought about books. And for the first time I realized that a man was behind each one of the boods. A man had to think them up. A man had to take a long time to put them down on paper. And I'd never even thought that thought before."
6. Fugitive
6.1. Exposed: Montag gave him self away because he was quoting books in the firehouse. ""Was it my wife turned in the alarm?" Beatty nodded. "But her friends turned in an alarm earlier, that I let ride. One way or the other, you'd have got it. It was pretty silly, quoting poetry around free and easy like that. It was the act of a silly damn snob."
6.2. On the run: "Police alert. Wanted: Fugitive in the city. Has committed murder and crimes against the state. Name: Guy Montag. Occupation: Firemen. Last seen...".
