1. Type 1: Formative
1.1. Allows for gathering evidence of student learning, providing feedback, and adjusting instruction based on feedback
1.2. Examples: quizzes, observations, end of class review sheet
2. Type 3: Summative
2.1. This assessment focuses on the outcome of the entire course rather than after each unit of learning
2.2. Examples: Standardized testing, EOC Exams, Major cumulative projects, Research projects
3. Type 5: Diagnostic
3.1. Tests students prior to instruction to find strengths and weaknesses and then the curriculum is made based off the findings
3.2. Examples: Student Journal, Student Self-Assessment. Conference or interview with each student
4. Type 4: Interim/Benchmark
4.1. Periodic testing throughout the year, for example, 6 week tests
4.2. Examples: Projects, written assignments, and 6 week tests
5. Type 2: Performance
5.1. This assessment focuses on having students perform a task rather than answer a question or write a paper
5.2. Examples: Creating a graph of information, having students create a website on a unit topic instead of a research paper
