Women's rights
by elisabetta nasini
1. The lack of equality pushed women to stand up and fight for what they deserved. Women had to fight for equal basic rights: to vote; to own property; to education; to work; to equal pay; to enter into legal contracts, to serve the military.
2. During the last two centuries, Women's Rights Movements tried to gain more rights for women and to enable them to have equal rights. The main goal was to develop a greater role for women in their society.
3. But in some contemporary societies, these rights are denied or ignored. they are still victims of social exclusion or violence.
4. Today, more women are educated, celebrated and making change. Women are holding more positions of power. In some cases they are being well paid and they have been improving their social conditions.
