2. Agnosia

2.1. Difficulty recognizing objects

2.1.1. Not able to recognize danger

2.1.2. Must make sure to keep cleaning solutions, personal care items, medications, etc. in a safe place.

2.2. Difficulty recognizing people

2.2.1. does not always recognize the people he or she may see every day.

2.2.2. Take the time to introduce your self, because if not the resident may become stressed.

3. Amnesia

3.1. short term memory loss

3.1.1. provide lots of reminders and lots of redirection

3.1.2. limited ability to think through changes

3.1.3. changes in a normal routine can cause a lot of stress. so make sure to maintain their normal routine

3.2. Long term memory loss

3.2.1. can loose memory of long periods of their life

3.2.2. use validation therapy

3.2.2.1. instead of insisting that what the resident believes is wrong, go along with it

4. Apraxia

4.1. Difficulty coordinating steps to complete a task.

4.2. ADL become very difficult

4.3. Frustration becomes very high

4.4. May cause behavioral outburst because of the frustration.

4.5. Always assist the resident with doing ADL but also encourage them to do as much as they can.
