1. Mosaics- patterns or designs of small pieces of glass/stone stuck onto wet plaster
2. Frescoes- made by painting on wet plaster
3. Lit by oil lamps and heated by stoves
4. Rich Romans also had villas- large houses in the country
5. Wealthy people (patricians)
6. Atrium- an open courtyard with a pool in the middle to catch rain-water
7. Peristylum- walled garden
8. Murals decorated the walls
