ENGL 307 Goals

1. Apply

1.1. To employ the proper use of rhetoric in technical documents and in other forms of writing.

1.2. Further develop my research techniques through service-learning projects.

1.3. Work on collaboration and continue to build upon my work ethic and drive in group settings.

2. Grow

2.1. I plan to build my skills as a writer this semester by learning a writing technique that I am less familiar with.

2.2. I plan to build my skills as a student as far as engaging in a teaching style and course that up until this point I have not experienced.

3. Technology

3.1. Through the service-learning project I expect to work on various types of multimedia platforms and develop experience making a professional deliverable.

3.2. The class requires a technology aspect that I hadn't experienced in other courses or had to engage in other experiences, such as the Google Site.

4. Organization

4.1. I have a tendency to do homework assignments last minute. For this course I want to plan better.

4.2. I also have a tendency to be late on homework. With the amount of work required for this class I want to make sure I turn all of my assignments in on time.

4.3. I have never had a planner, and any time i get one i do not keep up on organizing it, so this semester I at least want to fall into a pattern of checking my work for the week in a way that is conducive to my learning

5. Understanding

5.1. I want to know more about ethics in technical communications and what that means as far as our own job applications as well as deliverables and working with the community.

5.2. The course is structured to solve problems through the spread of information and persuasive arguments. I want to be able to better craft arguments for the purpose of technical writing.

5.3. Interacting with the texts and readings so that I can get the most out of the course and don't feel like I am wasting my time by doing readings.

6. Learn

6.1. A lot of times in writing courses I feel like i do not come out of it learning anything new as far as how to write. Form this course I hope to learn new writing techniques and styles that can help me in my professional career.
