18.1. Many immigrants face a community and life full of poverty. If they are able, they leave their towns to migrate to the united States, in hope of a better life for themselves and their families.
18.2. Immigrants generally come from low income areas and may seek job placement within the United States. There are many jobs available for these workers.
19. Religion
19.1. Immigrants may travel to the US in hopes of fleeing religious persecution or conflict.
20. Natural Disasters/Climate Change
20.1. When a city or country experiences a devastating natural disaster, they oftentimes flee the country to seek shelter and safety. An immigrant may choose to relocate if they are not in favor of their country's harsh climate.
21. Northern European immigrants could more easily conform to Anglo ways because of their white skin. They were easily able to Americanize themselves by dressing, talking, thinking, and behaving like the white majority.

22.1. Many Jews sought freedom in the US from Anti-Semitism, prejudices or stereotypes against them
