1. The questions I have about this career are: How much is the annual salary, how flexible are the hours, how much time will I have to provide patient care for my patients, and if I wanted to would I be able to have my own practice?

1.1. In order to answer about the salary I would make I need to look that up on the bureau of labor for statistics. It also would help if I looked up the city and state I want to work in so I know how much I would really make.

1.1.1. In order to answer this question I would need to look up a general salary for the occupation and also choose a specialty. The salary may significantly increase or decrease based on the field I choose to practice in.

1.2. To answer the question on how flexible the hours are I would have to do some in-depth research to see what the general amount of hours NP normally work. Also I could look on some forums like allnurses.com for first hand experience.

1.2.1. To answer this question I may need to find an article or journal on a nurses first hand experience. Also there are many first person medical shows on TV now so that may also help give me an idea of the hours

1.3. To answer how flexible the hours of patient care are I could possible find that out from a survey in the library database if available. I also could ask some of the NP's that work in the hospital on post.

1.3.1. I would better be able to answer this question by finding a book or article on advanced practice nursing and the quality of nursing care

1.4. To answer the question of if I could own my own practice I would have to find that information out from the state I want to practice in. Some states allow NP's to practice independently.

1.4.1. I would better be able to research this question by finding state nursing boards to see which states allow NP's to practice independently

2. The career I've chosen to explore is nursing. More specifically advance practice nursing as a nurse practitioner.
