1. Just lather, that's all

1.1. Setting

1.1.1. A barbershop

1.2. Character

1.2.1. The barber timid and selfish "When I recognized him I start to tremble."(page 1) He got a chance to kill his enemies, but he give up because of he afraid to kill.

1.2.2. Captain Torres evil but brave "They told me that you'd kill me. I came to find out. But killing isn't easy."(page 3) He knew the barber wanted to kill him, but he still closed his eyes and enjoyed his shaving process.

1.3. Conflict

1.3.1. People vs. people Republicans vs. Free Staters. Other sniper shot him on the arm

1.3.2. People vs. themselves the main character was facing a situation which he could choose to either kill others or being killed.

1.4. Literary Device

1.4.1. Onomatopoeia 'I could just cut this throat just so, zip! zip!"(page 3) "zip! zip!"sound like the voice that barber are cutting Torres' throat.

1.4.2. simile "He should have let it grow like some poets or priest do."(page 2) The barber uses a comparison for two things which is poets and Torres' throat. "skin would give way like silk,like rubber, like the strop."(page 3) There is a comparison between silk, rubber and strop with skin.

1.4.3. Atmosphere "He said nothing when he entered."(page 1) This sentence is the first sentence of whole story and it telled us that the later story is very tense.

1.5. Theme

1.5.1. Murder is hard and revenge will never end once it begins.

2. The sniper

2.1. Setting

2.1.1. Republican and Free Staters were waging civil war in Dublin.

2.2. Character

2.2.1. The sniper (republican) clever and strong-willed "The sniper looked at his enemy falling and he shudderd."(page 3) He get shot by his enemy at first, then he killed his enemy back by himself.

2.2.2. Another sniper (the free states) good sniper “Suddently from the opposite roof a shot rang out and the sniper dropped his rifle with a curse." This sniper (the free states) is really good at shot because he can hit the sniper's left arm from far away.

2.3. Conflict

2.3.1. -Person vs. himself (inner conflict) barber faces inner conflict. He is trying to decide if he should kill Captain Torres or not.

2.3.2. -person vs. person barber versus captain (they are enemies/rebels)

2.3.3. -person vs. society Captain Torres vs. rebels (fighting against them)

2.4. Literary Device

2.4.1. Hyperbole "The sniper thought the noise would wake the dead."(page 2) The writer want tell reader that the sound of the gun is really loud, but the another sniper couldn't hear from this kinds of far way. so this is a hyperbole.

2.4.2. Irony "Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother' face"(page 3) It want say that war is for kill your enemy, but you killed your own brother in the end.

2.4.3. Simile "Here and there throught the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on long farm."(page 1) The writer comparison the voice of gun with the voice of dog barking. It makes reader more enjoy this story and feel interesting

2.5.1. Wars destroy families.
