1.4.3.1.1. This sentence is the first sentence of whole story and it telled us that the later story is very tense.

2.2.1.1.1. "The sniper looked at his enemy falling and he shudderd."(page 3) He get shot by his enemy at first, then he killed his enemy back by himself.

2.2.2.1.1. “Suddently from the opposite roof a shot rang out and the sniper dropped his rifle with a curse." This sniper (the free states) is really good at shot because he can hit the sniper's left arm from far away.

2.3.1.1. barber faces inner conflict. He is trying to decide if he should kill Captain Torres or not.

2.3.2.1. barber versus captain (they are enemies/rebels)

2.3.3.1. Captain Torres vs. rebels (fighting against them)

2.4.1. Hyperbole

2.4.1.1. "The sniper thought the noise would wake the dead."(page 2)

2.4.1.1.1. The writer want tell reader that the sound of the gun is really loud, but the another sniper couldn't hear from this kinds of far way. so this is a hyperbole.

2.4.2.1. "Then the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother' face"(page 3)

2.4.2.1.1. It want say that war is for kill your enemy, but you killed your own brother in the end.

2.4.3. Simile

2.4.3.1. "Here and there throught the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night, spasmodically, like dogs barking on long farm."(page 1)

2.4.3.1.1. The writer comparison the voice of gun with the voice of dog barking. It makes reader more enjoy this story and feel interesting
